Configuring my Windows Me Computer

Look for an item on your desktop called "My Computer", normally situated at the top left hand corner of your screen. Select this icon with your mouse pointer and click on it. A Window called "My Computer" is now open on your screen.

Look for the item called "Dial-up Networking" and select it by clicking on it with your mouse. If you can not find this icon, click on Start, point to programs, Accessories, Communications and select Dial-Up Networking. Now a window called "Dialup networking" is open on your screen.

Select the item called "make a new connection"

A new window is opened. A Field is displayed "type the name of the computer you are dialing". Inside the field "My connection" is highlighted. Now type the word "Zazu Internet".

The next field says "Standard Modem". If you have a different modem configured, then select this modem now.

Select the "Next" button to display the next window.

Now the area code is requested. Do NOT provide the area code. Press the tab button to jump to the next field called telephone number.

In the space provided, type the phone number as follows:

0860007249

Please note that if you type the wrong number or swap the numbers, then this service will not work.

Click on the "Next" button to continue.

The next window "You have successfully created a new Dial-up networking connection called Zazu Internet." is displayed.

Click on the "Finish" button to complete the configuration.

You will now see the Zazu Internet item as an icon in the Dial-up networking window.

Right click on the Zazu Internet ICON. A Menu will be displayed. Select the last item called "Properties".

A Window with 6 options is displayed. "General, Networking, Security, Scripting and Multilink". Currently "General" is selected.

Make sure the box is not ticked called: "Use area code and Dialing Properties"

Click on "Networking" and you will see a list of selectable options.

The last 3 options at the bottom are currently tagged or marked as selected. Click on the first of the 3 options called "NetBEUI" and it will be untagged. Now click on the 2nd of the 3 options called "IPX/SPX compatible" and it will be untagged.

Click on "Security" and you will see a menu called "Authentication" Your username and password is now requested. Enter or type your username. For example the username is "user123@zazu.co.za". Also enter the password.

Click on "Dialing", the last option to the right and make sure the box is ticked called: "This is the default internet connection". Select the option "Always dial my default connection".

Now click on the "OK" button. The window is closed and you are now ready to dial into Zazu Internet. Double click on the "Zazu Internet" icon to initiate the dial-up process.

Make sure that the phone number that is displayed is correct. Change it if it is necessary. Now proceed to click on the "Connect" button.

The connection with Zazu Internet will be established.
